The Energy will have their hands full tonight, as OKC travels to Ft. Worth, Texas for a bout with MLS club FC Dallas in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
As it stands, The Energy are on seven game winning streak, and currently the best team in the USL, a lower division league that serves mostly as a developmental and supplemental league to Major League Soccer. Still, OKC is nothing to scoff at coming into tonight’s match.

As it stands, OKC sits atop of the USL’s Western Conference table at 6-2-3 and with 21 points, a total 180 from last season where the Energy finished towards the bottom of the league. Now in their second season, it would appear that OKC is playing as well as anyone in the league.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma _ For the first time since professional soccer came to Oklahoma City, the Energy sit atop the USL’s Western Conference after a thrilling 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps II, Tuesday night at Taft Stadium.
The Energy, now 6-2-3 (21 points) earned their sixth consecutive victory, and continue blaze across the USL, much improved from last season where the Energy finished towards the bottom of the Western Conference in their debut season. Now in their second season, it appears that the tables have turned. Right now, OKC is on fire.

That is all you can really say about Oklahoma City, who notched their fifth consecutive victory, and fifth victory in the last six matches, with a 2-0 result over the Portland Timbers II, in Taft Stadium. The Energy, now 5-2-3 sit with 18 points in USL play, and continue to climb the standings as the currently sit third in the Western Conference, and are in good position to make the USL playoffs.
Late heroics gave the Oklahoma City Energy another win in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, this time a 1-0 victory over in-state rivals, the Tulsa Roughnecks. With the victory, OKC moves on to the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
The Oklahoma City Energy scored their biggest win of the season, beating the previously undefeated Sacramento Republic by a 2-1 score thanks in part to an early ejection for the visitors.
It was a wet, dreary match that included high-flying tempers, delays, and a lot of pressure from the visiting side. Sacramento controlled much of the match on their side of the pitch, once again playing their up-tempo, press, which has worked well for them thus far this season.
The Oklahoma City Energy (2-2-3, 9 points) returns home for the first time in a month for a bout with the USL’s best, Sacramento Republic (6-4-0, 18 points). Saturday night marks the first match at Taft stadium since an April 25th, loss to Saint Louis FC.

The win comes at a good time after a tough road stint that resulted in a loss to Seattle and a draw with Vancouver this past weekend, and marks the first victory for the Energy in this year’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Mistakes cost the Energy a win in Canada, as Oklahoma City fought themselves to a draw with Whitecaps II, Vancouver’s USL developmental squad. The game finished a two game swing through the Pacific Northwest that saw them lose to the Seattle Sounders USL squad on Friday.
