FC Dallas had a playoff-like game tonight with the Los Angeles Galaxy coming to town and FC Dallas were able to handle business 1-0 thanks to a Walker Zimmerman header off a corner from Mauro Diaz in the thirty-ninth minute. The win clinched Dallas a first round bye and also eliminated Toronto FC, Los Angeles Galaxy, and Real Salt Lake from the Supporters’ Shield race.

The first half action was fast and furious with numerous chances by both team as FC Dallas had three shots on target while the Galaxy had one. Mauro Diaz was able to find Walker Zimmerman on a corner kick that Zimmerman bounced in off his head to give FC Dallas their loan goal of the night.

The teams went back and forth in the second half creating chances, before Dallas was able to hold off the Galaxy long enough for the win. The most dangerous attempt from the Galaxy came when Seitz went down in the box, and Atiba Harris was able to deflect the shot with his body.

FC Dallas will be off next week as they will be tuning into the Houston Dynamo-Colorado Rapids game with great interest in hoping for a draw or loss by the Rapids which would then let Dallas control their own destiny in the shield race. If Dallas gets some help from other teams against the Rapids, Dallas could clinch the shield at home.
