FC Dallas started their week off with a practice Tuesday night. Here are some key notes from the evening:
Intensity still high:
The team did another five on five drill in another short space on Monday. Pareja mentioned he thinks the team is ready for more intense workouts and will be raising the level of intensity in the practices going forward. It should help this week with Portland coming to town this week as FC Dallas has struggled with the intensity of Portland in the past.
Soumare makes debut:
As expected, Bakaray Soumare made his training debut last night and it was easy to see why FC Dallas decided to get him. Soumare brings a physical presence to the center back position that FC Dallas does not have in their backups right now. A few occasions he was tested by some players, but he stood his ground and used his size to bully players trying to get past him.
The message is the same this week as it has been in previous weeks:
Speed, speed, and more speed. The team will once again use their speed to keep the pressure on Portland and find some breakthroughs. It would not surprise to see FC Dallas run a similar plan to what they did against D.C. United. The only difference is you can’t expect Portland to stay back and play for a tie this week.
