The Vaqueros return home for a break from NPSL South Central Conference action for an exhibition match against the Houston Dynamo u-23 squad at 7:30 pm at Martin Field at Texas Wesleyan.
The Vaqueros have a tight home schedule due to the exhibition and a make up match on Tuesday due to a rainout earlier this season. The schedule will see Fort Worth play Saturday, Tuesday (June 30), Thursday (July 2) and Saturday (July 4) at home.
On another rain soaked evening and pitch in Texas, and after enduring a rain delay for over an hour, the Houston Dynamo fell to FC Dallas for the second time in 2015 in a physical 2-0 match in Frisco. So coming into last night, FC Dallas fans were sad, and understandably so. A run of away games, paired with a number of international absences laid the groundwork for some really poor performances, including some shutout losses by multiple goals.
And probably most concerning was the play of the midfield maestro, Mauro Diaz. The last time he played like the guy who could dominate this league was May 9, ironically the last time the team won. Since then, he had been a shell of his former self and not the guy pulling the strings. To be fair, in a number of games, such as the one against Montreal, a Hack-a-Mauro plan worked. But in other games, such as the last game against Colorado, the Argentine could be seen visibly frustrated with the play of his teammates. Continue reading →

While the NASL takes its break between the Spring and Fall seasons, the Scorpions will play host to Club Sport Cartaginés of the Costa Rican Primera División. San Antonio is looking to pick up some momentum from the Spring season and defend their championship run from last year.
