The Vaqueros return home for a break from NPSL South Central Conference action for an exhibition match against the Houston Dynamo u-23 squad at 7:30 pm at Martin Field at Texas Wesleyan.
The Vaqueros have a tight home schedule due to the exhibition and a make up match on Tuesday due to a rainout earlier this season. The schedule will see Fort Worth play Saturday, Tuesday (June 30), Thursday (July 2) and Saturday (July 4) at home.
“We have a very difficult schedule with three league games in 5 days next week,” Vaqueros coach Mark Snell said. “Saturday’s game is an exhibition so fans will get the opportunity to see a lot of our up and coming talented players.”
The Vaqueros welcomed the return of Hilton Ngwa who made his first start of the year on Tuesday. Ngwa was a standout player for the Vaqueros and picked up where he left off on Tuesday. “Hilton had been nursing an injury for several months but was in top form last game. He is an important player for us,” Snell said.
The Houston Dynamo u-23 side features young players from the Major League Soccer club. The minor league Vaqueros feature an average age of 21.4 years old meaning the match should provide a stiff test for the Fort Worth Club.
Nestor Martinez leads the Vaqueros with three goals this season. Corwin Carbonell and Jorge Deleon each sit on two goals apiece. Abdoulaye “Papa” Faly, Dade Horton, Tyler Humphrey and Ricky Mejia each have a single goal for Fort Worth. Outside defender Austin Stewart leads the team in assists with two. Carbonell, Humphrey, Mejia and Hilton Ngwa also have an assist for the Vaqueros.
