Once again, FC Dallas was in position to get a significant result and saw the challenge made significantly tougher by a player ejection. Last time, it was Kellyn Acosta. This time, it was Blas Perez for what appears to be hands to the face of Drew Moor as Dallas was up 1-0 on the road in Colorado. The ejection meant FCD played down a man for 36 minutes and will be without the Panamanian for the heated rivalry with the Dynamo next Friday.
FC Dallas’ next opponent is their in-state rivals, the Houston Dynamo, who played host to Sporting Kansas City Saturday night. The first half was wide open, and the second half was more of the same, but a late red card saw a shift of space that allowed Benny Feilhaber to hit a bomb to scrap out a point for the visitors. Feilhaber grabbed a brace and Giles Barnes got his two goals, and the confused defenses that allowed these would be the unwitting stars of the night.
After months of waiting for the relationship to be finalized, and then another period of uncertainty before something came of it, FC Dallas has finally loaned out one of its players to Arizona United as midfielder Danny Garcia is with the USL side as of today. Garcia confirmed via Twitter that he will be playing for Arizona, saying he is “excited for the opportunity to play here with Arizona United and make the most out of it”. Continue reading
On Thursday, April 9, FC Dallas captain Matt Hedges was struck in the head by a ball rebounding off the woodwork during set piece drills. That injury caused him to miss the debacle against the Colorado Rapids the next day.
Tonight, in the away leg of the series, Hedges once again had to miss time from playing, this time because of a blow to the head he received in the 63rd minute defending another set piece. The UNC product did not return to the game, subbed for by Walker Zimmerman.
After a strong first half, FC Dallas came away from their road clash with the Colorado Rapids with a 1-1 draw despite a red card to Blas Perez and a concerning injury to Matt Hedges.
We are pretty excited about tonight’s Lineup Prediction and Match Analysis, in large part due to the good work of Fletcher Whiteley this week (HERE and HERE), along with Clay Massey’s Match Preview. Frankly, we have held back a little in our predictions until now for a few reasons, mostly to make sure we were seeing what we thought we were seeing, and now, we feel good that we have it bracketed.
Of course, late injuries like the one to Matt Hedges happen, and Oscar Pareja works hard to mix things up in practice, so this is not a guaranteed lineup, but we do think this is pretty dialed in.
There are some really good matches this weekend, including the Colorado-Dallas revenge match on Friday, NE-RSL on Saturday, and NY-LA and Seattle-Portland on Sunday. See below for details. Continue reading
FC Dallas travel to Denver this Friday to face the Colorado Rapids in a rematch of the match no one will forget this year. The last time these teams faced off, Colorado picked FC Dallas apart piece by piece and went on to score four goals in a 4-0 romping, the worst loss for FC Dallas in the Oscar Pareja era. It was a loss that made this FC Dallas team much more focused, and motivated, which we saw in the match against Toronto. This week could also mark the return of Mauro Diaz, which could change Colorado’s game plan heading into this Friday’s match. Continue reading
Set piece day
As usual, on the day before the match, today was the day where the team focused on set pieces. Mauro Diaz and Kyle Bekker worked most of the corner and free kicks. Chris Setiz and Dan Kennedy were taking most of the repetitions in goal. Continue reading
