FC Dallas center back and captain Matt Hedges only played in 64 minutes this week before leaving the game with a bloody nose, but with a man down, the team was able to secure one point in Colorado with a 1-1 tie. Hedges has had a history of concussions and got one a few weeks ago and the team decided to sub him out was the best option at the time.
“I feel better now,” he said. “At the time it did not feel good and I went through all the testing and we decided it was not worth the risk. I had no concussion symptoms, but when you get one a few weeks ago it was not worth the risk.”
Hedges was happy with his team’s performance against Colorado before he went out and knows it is something the team can continue to build on.
“I think the team was playing well,” he said. “We had the chances to get three points, but were only able to get one point.”
With a matchup against Houston this week, Hedges knows the fans will be ready for the big rivalry game this week.
“We need to continue our intensity and get over the result in Colorado,” he said. “We won in Houston last year and need to get three more points. I think we can get it.”
FC Dallas next game will take place in May and Hedges got the chance to reflect back on a month that had some ups and downs for the club.
“There was some things to forget about,” he said. “There was some lessons to learn and move on from and we continue to get better. Three points against Houston will be a great start to the month of May.”
