After months of waiting for the relationship to be finalized, and then another period of uncertainty before something came of it, FC Dallas has finally loaned out one of its players to Arizona United as midfielder Danny Garcia is with the USL side as of today. Garcia confirmed via Twitter that he will be playing for Arizona, saying he is “excited for the opportunity to play here with Arizona United and make the most out of it”.
Garcia arrived in Arizona this afternoon. Garcia struggled to find playtime this season in a crowded midfield especially with the return of Mauro Diaz last night. Garcia was one of two moves we expected Dallas to make down to Arizona with the other being Otis Earle. At the time of this writing, Earle has not been loaned down there and he probably will not be with the status of Matt Hedges up in the air after the injury to him last night.
What makes Garcia ideal for this loan spell is that he showed flashes of clear ability last season, but he was not able to make the full jump to being a regular starter in MLS. In addition to what he showed for FC Dallas last year, he has had a number of successful efforts in the US Youth national team program.
The former UNC product would likely benefit from the playing time he should be able to earn under former FC Dallas player Michael Dellorusso, something that benefited fellow homegrown player Moises Hernandez, who played for Communicaciones in Guatemala before playing for Costa Rica giant Saprissa, allowing the Seagoville product to be ready to earn first team minutes last year and enter this season as the starting left fullback for the club.
