FC Dallas adds another Colombian winger

FC Dallas announced today that they have signed 23-year old Colombian midfielder Michael Barrios, pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Once Barrios is officially available to play, he will likely fill the role that Andres Escobar filled near the end of last season for FC Dallas, playing opposite recently re-signed fellow Colombian, Fabian Castillo, although strong play by second year winger Ryan Hollingshead  this pre-season may make Barrios’ entry into the lineup more of a challenge.

The team’s newest addition comes to Dallas from Uniautonoma in the Colombian First Division where he made 136 appearances over the last four years.

From the Official FC Dallas Press Release:

“Despite being only 23 years old, Michael has a lot of experience in the first division in Colombia,” FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja said. “He is a player that we know can come in and help us offensively right away. He has the speed and talent to be a great player in this league.”
