FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas bounced back after a loss at home against the Seattle Sounders, and took care of Toronto 2-1 in Frisco. FC Dallas and Toronto both lined up in a 4-2-3-1 with David Teixeira and Gilberto up-top respectively.
Issey Nakijima-Farran opened up the scoring in the 21’ minute off a rebound from his shot making it 1-0 to Toronto. The shot took a sharp deflection past Chris Seitz and found the back of the net. FC Dallas replied in the 37’ minute when Michel whipped in a pacey corner that found the head of Matt Hedges which he powered on frame, and found the back of the net to make it 1-1. FC Dallas pushed for more, but some stellar keeping from Brazilian international, Julio Cesar, kept it level and Toronto in the game.
FC Dallas kept the pressure up in the second half, and Toronto never found their flow back into the match. Cesar did his best to keep it level, but in the 88’ minute a ball into the box from Michel was headed down by FC Dallas center-backs Stephen Keel and Matt Hedges, the loose ball was pounced on by the Panamanian striker and beat Cesar to give FC Dallas a 2-1 lead and three points.
Blas Perez scored the winner, but Fabian Castillo and Matt Hedges were the stand-outs for FC Dallas. Castillo ran-rampant and had chances for FC Dallas, and Matt Hedges assisted the winner, and scored the equalizer. He was involved in the attack, and did his job on containing the Toronto attack when it came. FC Dallas returns to action in DC against United, and Toronto returns against New England in Toronto.
