FRISCO, Texas – A scoreless match for 71 minutes ended 3-1 in FC Dallas’ favor. Chivas USA was put on their heels for the entire first half but Dan Kennedy stood out to make sure it stayed at 0-0, but every ship eventually sinks. FC Dallas came out in a 4-2-3-1 with Blas Perez up top and Chivas was in a 4-2-2 with Luke More and Erick Torres as the two strikers.
The best chance of the first half came in the 30’ minute and fell for FC Dallas. A Mauro Diaz corner was blasted towards goal from Blas Perez’s head, but Dan Kennedy reacted down to make the save. Dan Kennedy made another save two minutes into stoppage time on a ball that skirted away from him to keep the match level.
The match finally opened up when a Mauro Diaz set-piece ball, headed down by Hendry Thomas, was volleyed into the net by Fabian Castillo from just inside the six yard box. Kennedy got a touch on it but it found its’ way in to make it 1-0 to the home side. In the 78’ minute Mauro Diaz made a run from the top of the box to the halfway line and played a great through ball to Je-Vaughn Watson who rounded Dan Kennedy to make it 2-0 to FC Dallas. Erick Torres got Chivas back in the match immediately with a nice flick shot in front of Chris Seitz on a low cross from Krystopher Typrak to make it 2-1. Then in the 86’ minute Michel sent in a free-kick from about 30 yards out that deflected off the wall and past Dan Kennedy to make it 3-1.
The game would end at 3-1. FC Dallas have not lost this season so far, and lead the western conference. Dallas play host to Portland next, whereas the goats continue their road trip by heading to New Jersey to take on the New York Red Bulls.
